Prisum Healthcare initiates the B Corp certification process: a test of social and environmental responsibility prepared over 31 years April 2026

Prisum Healthcare announces the completion of its application and the initiation of the B Corp certification process, one of the most demanding global standards for assessing corporate social and environmental impact.

Following the evaluation process, which will be carried out by B Lab Europe, the company is expected to become one of the first organisations in Romania’s pharmaceutical industry to achieve B Corp certification.

B Corp certification is granted exclusively to companies that demonstrate high standards of performance across key areas: community and social responsibility, responsible environmental practices, transparency in communication with employees and consumers, and excellence in governance, following a rigorous assessment of how companies manage relationships with employees, customers, and suppliers, as well as their engagement with communities and the environment.

B Corp certification is becoming an increasingly relevant benchmark both for consumers seeking responsibly produced goods and for investors focused on sustainability-oriented businesses.

In Romania, only 10 organisations currently hold B Corp certification, while globally just over 10,000 companies across 104 countries have achieved this status. Companies such as Patagonia, Danone, and The Body Shop have obtained B Corp certification, publicly committing to high standards of responsibility and sustainability.

A Strong Performance in Responsibility Assessment

As part of the evaluation process, Prisum Healthcare achieved a preliminary score of nearly 120 points, significantly above the minimum threshold of 80 points required for qualification. This result reflects the company’s commitment to a responsible business model focused on long-term positive impact.

The application process is complex, involving additional stages of validation and audit, with the final result to be confirmed by B Lab Europe, the international body overseeing B Corp certification. In this process, Prisum Healthcare collaborated with Impact Market Romania, a certification project supported by Salco MetroLab, the first company in Romania specialised in guiding organisations towards B Corp certification.

The initiation of the B Corp certification process signals to both consumers and investors that Prisum Healthcare’s economic performance is built on its positive social and environmental impact. One example is the Donează Oxigen project (www.DoneazaOxigen.ro), initiated by the company, which for over six years has contributed to the protection of forests and national parks in Romania, as well as to reforestation efforts in deforested areas.

Unlike companies that prioritise profit alone, B Corp-certified companies take into account the "triple bottom line": profit, people, and planet, using business as a force to address social and environmental challenges.
